Sri Neelakandeswarar Trust, declared on 14th August 2023 by B. Omkumar at No. 527 Main Road, Neikuppai, Thiruvidaimaruthur T.K., Thanjavur District – 609807, is committed to maintaining reading rooms and libraries for the benefit of the public at large. As explicitly stated in the Trust Deed (Document No. R/Kuthalam/Book-4/16/2023), establishing and maintaining public libraries and reading rooms is a core charitable objective — open to all members of the community without any discrimination of sex, caste, creed, or religion.

The Trust is a registered irrevocable Public Charitable Trust (PAN: ABHTS5819F), and its activities are open to all, irrespective of religion, sex, or community. Our library and reading room initiatives serve students, scholars, and the general public across Thiruvidaimaruthur and Thanjavur District.

Library & Reading Room Objectives (As Per Trust Deed)

The following objectives are directly outlined in the Trust Deed registered at the Sub-Registrar Office, Kuthalam:

  • To maintain reading rooms and libraries for the benefit of the public at large in Thiruvidaimaruthur, Neikuppai, and surrounding areas.
  • To establish, takeover, maintain, run, subsidize, help, and make donations to educational and vocational institutions, including public reading facilities.
  • To promote intellectual advancement and educational upliftment for all sections of society through access to knowledge and reading resources.
  • To aid, assist, and maintain places of public utilities and to protect the environment for community welfare.
  • To make pecuniary grants by way of scholarships, donations, and awards for the benefit of students and scholars who use library facilities.
  • To take or receive any gift — whether money, movable, or immovable property — or donations in any form to secure contributions toward library and reading room development.
  • To do or cause to be done any acts conducive to the social, moral, ethical, cultural, civil, patriotic, and physical welfare of the people, including through promotion of reading and learning.
  • To contribute to or give aid to any Trust, Institution, or Body with similar library and educational objects, and join with similar service organizations in fulfillment of the above objectives.

How We Promote Reading & Learning

The Board of Trustees of Sri Neelakandeswarar Trust, as empowered under the Trust Deed, carries out the following activities to fulfill the library and reading room objectives:

  • Public Reading Rooms — Maintaining accessible reading spaces for students, youth, and community members in Neikuppai and Thiruvidaimaruthur.
  • Library Facilities — Establishing and running libraries with books, periodicals, and learning materials for the benefit of the public at large.
  • Student Support — Providing a conducive learning environment for students preparing for exams and pursuing self-improvement.
  • Community Knowledge Programs — Organizing reading and awareness programs that promote social, moral, ethical, and cultural welfare of the community.
  • Donations to Educational Institutions — Contributing to and supporting educational bodies and institutions that run library services aligned with the Trust's objectives.

The Trust is administered by a Board of three Trustees. The Managing Trustee also serves as Chairman of the Board and holds the casting vote. The Board is reconstituted every two years.
